Here is a guide spacing chart that may cover most two piece fly rods. It may be used for multi piece rods, however the guide to ferrule positions will need to be adjusted. Position of the stripping guide should be determined by measuring your lenght of pull, which is typically 27 to 36 inches from the butt of the fly rod.

First row is the distance between guides.
Second row is guide placement from the tip down.

Using the second row is recomends as it helps to keep the overall spacing by not allowing minor mistakes in guide placement carry over to the next guide. Mistakes in fractions of an inch can add up to inches over a set of guides.

All rods using these charts are designed to have guides placed on the ferrule.
