Author Topic: Biggest Carp in the SUSKY caught today through the ice with 007 and Gotthenet  (Read 1594 times)

We hit our favorite spot today on the Susky about 3PM and before all the tipups were out 007 had a flag up.He set the hook and said it was a Monster and he needed the auger to make the hole bigger. helpsmilie

It was real thin (clear) ice and I seen this huge carp swim by and I said OMG thats huge.He got it in and it was a Carp of a lifetime from the Susky IMO!!!It was 39" long with a 29" girth and weighed a whopping 41 pounds.We put it in a cooler and put it in my dads pond when we were done fishing....What a fish 007,congrats.

Ill just let the pics do the talking about this giant,im sure 007 will chime in with his big fish story how hes the best carp fisherman on the river now!!!

The weigh in was 190# without the fish and 231# with the fish.... mfr_lol

Well this made my year!!  I never forget the sight of this thing through the crystal clear ice... It looked like a whale and instanty started yelling to get the chisle cause he wasnt going to fit through the hole!!!!  When i set the hook i knew it was HUGE.. i have never felt weight like that in my life.. I was just trying to "baby" it because i was only using 10lb test... I was using a size 2 treble with a 4 inch shiner about 6 inches off the bottom....This is a personal best  for all freshwater fish for me... now that im thinking about it it is my largest fish ever      
I just hopes he makes it to be caught again!!! Only 9lbs from the state record...  Ill get one bigger next week fishing_h4h    Because now i am the "new reigning best carp fisherman on the Susky river" Sorry IP i couldnt resist... mfr_lol     Now ill be back out there tomorrow hoping to catch a pike or musky( which i havent gotton one yet this year)  But im not complaining anymore!!!!
Thanks IP for once again bringing the camera!!!  Would of been nice to know that it was in your pocket before you sent you wife back to the house for it.. LOLOL

We were talking about that on the river after he caught that fish,a Carp winning the best pic on a Steelhead/Salmon site LMAO!!!Ditch if you would,add that second pic or pic # 5 to the tourney,your choice......

It is a blast fishing with 007!!!!

9 pounds from the state record WOW,probably the biggest if not closest to the biggest ever caught out of the Susky then IMO.....

Edited to add:Biggesr Common Carp in NY 50 lb. 6 oz. Charles Primeau Sr. Nightcrawler Tomhannock Reservoir, Rensselaer Co. 5/12/95

You were right,maybe a couple years from now in my dads pond we will beat that record!!!

that is one incredible fish!!!! way to go!!! i hae caught and seen some big carp out of the susky in my life but that takes the cake! fishing_h4h
