1) Start up 3/10
Being a new bushing reel one can not really expect to compare it against the new bearing style reels on the market. However it is said that with time bushing bearings spin more freely then bearings, so only time will tell.
2) Durability of finish 3/10
The model test came with the black enamel finish, which in my opinion was not a good choice for this reel. After one season of fishing the paint has already began to flake and peel off.
3)Easy of cleaning and part replacement 3/10
Fortunately this reel has very little parts that will ever need replacement. Being an english reel and with the manufacture no longer making centerpins every part must be custom made when replacement is needed.
4)Aesthetics 8/10
What this reel lacks in fancy finish is make up in being a caged centerpin. This reel not only has centering spokes, but it also has spoke which make up the line bed. For those who collect centerpins this english style remake of the famous Allcock Match Aerial is a one of a kind part of a collection.
5) Overall Fishablity 6/10
This reel is definitely a niche reel. When used with large floats, plugs and big bait this reel performs excellent. It has sturdy handles and a wide line bed which aids in fighting large fish.
Over all rating 23/50
Don't let the poor overall rating fool you about this reel. This reel is an absolute gem. I have made this my salmon and high water reel and found the slow start up does not impede the fishablity in these situations. The Match Aerial has many features such and a floating spool adjusted by a grub screw, micro adjustable drag and hefty clicker that rate high on features that make a good centerpin..
