Ratings: Start up 9/10
Cold, clear water, small offering and a small float. That's what was on the menu
the day my Kingfisher arrived. Out of the box and on the water within hours and all I could say is
"wow" I have fished 2 gram floats in frog water and have yet to "give it a bump" Very smooth as well.
Durability of finish: 8/10
I've beat on it for 2 years and could call it new. I fish my gear, lay it on rocks,
slather it with bait goop and most of all I enjoy it. One thing
I enjoy is not having to worry, this reel will take it.
I'll pull a line from the website..."John provides a tough durable finish to his reels. Going above
industry standards, he uses a
special process called “bronzing” with his anodizing method" and it shows.
Ease of cleaning & part replacement: 9/10
All replacement parts are available on the website, the bearings are German ABEC 5 0.500 x 0.250 x 0.1875.
The spool is simple to remove with only one screw making cleaning easy.
Aesthetics: 10/10
I had to give up a 10 for the looks. The bronze, brass and ebonite handles and check lever give
the look of a classic, while preforming like a modern day master piece. Sexy & solid is my description.
Overall Fishability: 9/10
I give a 9 because nothing is the end all be all. However this as is close as I've come. A smooth,
responsive
reel that is a pleasure to fish in any conditions.
